CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
A cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. A person's chance of survival falls by about 14%* for each minute that passes without defibrillation. The risk of death can be reduced if you have a defibrillator in your workplace and know how to use it.
Every second matters and this half-day course will give you the confidence to act quickly and effectively. Most importantly, the course will also teach defibrillator operators how to perform effective CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation).
No previous first aid knowledge is necessary to attend an AED course. Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the delegate, there is no final examination.
You will learn:
- The role of the first aider
- Managing an emergency
- Communication and casualty care
- Chest pains
- Getting to know the AED (any type)
- Operating the AED
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty
- Resuscitation (CPR)
Duration of training is usually 4 hours, which includes all documentation and a valid certificate is given to every candidate attending and completing the training.
